City Of Unley Business Community Leader Awards 2024

We are beyond thrilled to share that Goodwood Theatre and Studios has been named a finalist in the City Of Unley Business Community Leader Award for 2024!

This year’s City of Unley awards celebrate the businesses that have gone above and beyond in their respective fields, showcasing innovation, leadership, and commitment to sustainability and community. Each category highlights a unique aspect of business excellence, from businesses that have earned their spot through hard work and dedication.

Even to be nominated against the Adelaide Showground Farmer’s Market and King William Road Traders Association has been a huge privilege.

This is what the City of Unley Said about us:

"A cultural gem in the heart of Unley, Goodwood Theatre and Studios have been recognised for their efforts to make the arts accessible to all. Through a range of inclusive programs and events, they’ve fostered a sense of belonging and cultural enrichment within the community."

Massive congratulations to Christine Robertson from The Adelaide Showground Farmers Market and to the winner Sam Mingoia who won the award on behalf of the King William Road Traders Association.

Here's a quick summary of our application.....

Over the past five years, Goodwood Theatre & Studios (GTS) has transformed into a thriving hub for South Australia’s artistic community. Located on Kaurna land, GTS features a 215-seat theatre, a black-box venue, studios, a gallery, and more.

Guided by owners Chris Iley and Simone Avramidis, respected industry professionals, GTS has become a safe, inclusive space fostering creativity and cultural diversity. Their efforts have supported countless local artists and organizations through year-round workshops, residencies, and events, including their flagship Adelaide Fringe program, which in 2024 hosted 28 companies and drew over 7,000 visitors.

GTS’s commitment to inclusivity, cultural diversity, and artistic innovation shines through its curated programs such as Winter Warmers for local musicians, the Comeback initiative for emerging talent, and the SALA Festival for visual artists. By forging strong partnerships with local businesses and offering affordable ticketing, GTS not only enriches audiences but strengthens community ties. With plans to expand artist residencies, skills workshops, and community events, GTS continues to cement its reputation as a vibrant and essential cultural hub, welcoming over 18,000 visitors annually and leaving a lasting impact on South Australia's independent arts scene.

We are so grateful to the City of Unley for this recognition and to everyone who voted for us!

Here's to continuing our journey to bringing culture and creativity to life for all!
